Silent night? Probably not...

We're just hanging out...staring at the Christmas tree. We went to visit Grandpa Booker and Granny Melody tonight. Lots of extended family to see...including a young couple who got engaged! What a pleasure to be a part of that big moment for them. We're all looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow at Aunt Hannah's. We wish you all peaceful holiday celebrations. Be safe!

1 shopping day left...

We took a trip to the mall today for a bit shopping with Aunt Hannah and her boyfriend, Reagan. Booker decided after a diaper change that a ride in the baby sling was better than sitting in the stroller.

He loves the lights and sounds! We then went to meet Reagan's Mom and Aunt Mudear for dinner. It was decided again that Booker is one of the cutest babies ever. As his Mom, I'll always think that but it's nice to hear from other people!

Christmas Conspiracy

So, this morning began with a well rested Mommy excitedly baking cookies. My darling husband suggested that we decorate cookies this year to take to the holiday gatherings we will attend this coming week. I baked two batches and assembled all the decorating items at the kitchen table...complete with the iPod loaded with our favorite Christmas tunes. The air was filled with the smell of sugary icing and fa la la la la's...and Booker's screaming. With the exception of about 5 cookies, I was left to decorate the rest on my own.

This is what I found in the family room when I finished cleaning up...

I believe that Daddy and Baby made a deal. Daddy sets up plan...Booker provides screaming...Daddy gets to rest and have cookies. Tired Mommy drags herself to the showers at the end of another long day.

But looking at the photo above, I realize that it doesn't matter if Christmas ever comes. I have all I've ever asked for. I think I'll go get a cookie...and a glass of wine!

I hope for sleep...

I know he won't sleep through the night just yet but I am just hoping for more than 45 mintues at a time between midnight and 6 am. We went to visit Dr. Fitch (the best pediatrician on the planet) today after 2 very fussy nights. He may have a tiny cold but anything more serious was ruled out. Ed and I are armed with Baby Tylenol and Baby Gas-X and have our fingers crossed for a peaceful evening. The good thing is that Booker is continuing to gain weight (7 lb. 9 oz. !!) and is otherwise perfect.

Booker meets Grandma

We had a wonderul visit that was not long enough! Grandma even helped to finish decorating Booker's "under the sea" bedroom. She stenciled the fish and coral on his fancy curtains herself!

I was able to take many naps while Grandma got her hugs and kisses in. We even had a dinner out downtown with Aunt Hannah followed by a boat tour of the Riverwalk! I know it was harder for her to leave at the end of the week than she anticipated. We miss her and hope that her next visit will be very soon!

How do you like my hat?

Booker's new winter hat is courtesy of Grandma. It, of course, will be in the 70's through the end of this week here in San Antonio. Hopefully January will be chilly because he looks too cute!
Sorry for the poor picture quality. It was taken with my phone because we do not have a digital camera yet. (I hope you read my blog, Santa!)

Growing like a Weed

11/06/06, 10 minutes old, 4 pounds 12 ounces, 19 inches long
today, 6 weeks old, 7 pounds 1/2 ounce, 20 inches long

Booker's last weight was taken at the doctor last Thursday so he probably weighs more than that now. He better be gaining considering he wants to eat every 2 hours almost to the minute! He is very strong. During tummy time, he can lift his head and one shoulder up for about 30 seconds. He loves to stare at our ceiling fans and will crane his neck to look at them. He has quite a personality, even now. With his pointy, long tongue and loud voice, I believe he may be the next Gene Simmons.

The Eaglet Brings Good Luck!

So it wasn't an eventful win for our Birds but a win none the less! And if we're only going to have a few wins this season, one of them better be againist the Cowboys! A nice evening was had by all. Aunt Hannah made meatloaf and civil tongues were held by fans of both teams.

After the game, Booker had a costume change and photo shoot. Hopefully one if the shots will work for a Christmas card!

First post...how exciting!

You would think that as much as I like to run my mouth and be on the computer, I would have discovered blogging by now. It took the birth of my sweet baby boy (and encouragement from my sister, Hannah) to finally get to it. I hope that this will serve as a fun and interesting way to keep all of our family, far and near, updated on our new "branch".
